Ok, I don't get why people keep bringing this up and I often notice that a number of players asking about this happen to be in player-run corps that have some notoriety about them. One would think those corps are doing everything they can to keep their corp members informed on everything.

This means that the last official reset has already occurred back as the 10th of January 2013 (YC 115 in Eve time). Every SP you trained up for now matters at this point.
The reason we kept having resets before the migration to the operational (and Live) server is because anything that occurred in the Test server had no relevance and therefore had no impact on Eve Online.
CCP has consistently added content to Eve Online for 10 years including new ships, modules, and skill books without needing to reset anyone's SP or assets. Dust will be the same way as well. So get use to it. If you disagree with this, then go ahead and complain but none of it will matter since now every choice you and I make has permanent consequences which in turn makes our choices meaningful.
I also want to say something to the reputable corps out there like Betamax, Imperfects, ZionTCD, etc.
Make sure that all of your members are well informed about this matter. CEOs and Directors have a responsibility to keep their members up to date to mitigate this sort of thing. It won't prevent another "SP reset thread" 100% but it will at least keep the numbers down. |

The only time CCP ever reimbursed us for the SP we trained for is when they officially removed the "Learning" skills and revamped the attribute system due to the fact that the "Learning" skill books were a hindrance to the immersion of Eve for trial users. Since then there has been no SP reimbursements.
That was YEARS ago. |

actually not true, we've had skill points refunded a few times when CCP has removed skills(learning skills) and way back in like 2004/2005 we actually had some assets reset also with the upcoming changes to some skills being split from a single skill into 4 skills(1 for each race) those with them already trained will be getting free skill books and free skill points
That is assuming those players trained up the appropriate skill book (as is the case with Battlecruisers and Battleships) to the max level. Those that haven't will miss out on potentially hundreds of thousands, if not millions of free SP.
EDIT: Never mind what I said about the unallocated part. |

You're right, this is also about the refunds. |

I also want to point out that if CCP ever does a refund, it might only be when they remove skill books.
In other matters such as what Anndy Dusty referenced, here is a link to better explain what's happening in Eve Online:

Although, if I have to compromise, I can compromise on this:
Let's say for example that you trained up Nova Knife Operations to Level 4 and then later on CCP decides to introduce racial variants like Amarr Zealot Knife Operation, Caldari Nova Knife Operation, Gallente Black Eagle Dagger and Minmatar Swiss Army Knife Operation (throwing random names out there). Chances are that Nova Knife Operations skill book will be split up into all four variants with each having their levels set to what you trained up to assuming you trained up to at least at all four racial suits like the Gallente Scout, Minmatar Logistics, Caldari Assault, and Amarr Heavy.
But if you train up only Amarr heavy but have the Nova Knife operation at Level 4, then you would only see Amarr Zealot Knife Operation being given to you at Level 4.
Similar to how CCP handled the Destroyer skill books during one of the previous expansion late last year. |
